You know what phrase is strange? "One tough cookie".
Why a cookie? When cookies get overdone I wouldn't describe them as tough. I can't think of any situation involving cookies in which I would incorporate the word "tough". I would be thinking more along the lines of crispy, or blackened, or crunchy.
"He's one crunchy cookie."
That just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
It would make more sense to say, "He's one tough steak," or something like that. Don't you think?
"He's one tough piece of leather."
"She's one tough Kevlar suit."
Just a passing thought as I was clearing the dinner dishes tonight...

Three Cheers for Randomness and Rambling
Hurrah.
So, January, huh? That's just weird.
December held me captive via chocolate, caramel and Santa Clause. It was an exhausting month. Not to mention Baby B. I don't recall my other babies being this much work. But neither to I recall being 31 when I had my other babies. Right. I was in my twenties. I remember now. I am now convinced that factor makes an impactful difference.
The return to school, post Christmas break, is a brutal thing. I'll be honest... I'm not a fan. But after a few days, I think we're back in the swing of things.
Did you ever think about that term, "back in the swing of things"? When I think of that term, it brings to mind some feeling of routine and easiness or something. But when I think about it a little more literally, I think of a swing at a park that goes up and down, fast and slow. You have to pump to get going high and fast, and you can cruise a little bit and enjoy the ride, but you slow down and eventually stop. It's fun. Or it was when I was young. Now that I'm 32, I get that barfy feeling, which obliterates some of that fun feeling. I'm not sure what that means, but it's got to be significant somehow...
It's really too bad how YouTube has started showing advertisements. Remember the good ole days when it was just weird videos?
Micheal Buble's mouth moves weird to me. I think I should just listen to his music and not watch him sing on YouTube where I can't help but wonder if he genetically can't relax his upper lip or if he just does that when he sings.
Hurrah.
Speaking of YouTube, I just watched this video of my little LITTLE Rohan and I may or may not have cried a little bit while I saw that sweet little face and heard that precious little voice. What happens to these babies? Where do they go? Why do they have to get swallowed up by these older, yet no less wonderful, big kids? How does this happen? Can't these adorable little tiny faces somehow coexist with the new, more grown-up versions? Growing up is so tragic and so wonderful. Such a dichotomy.
Did you cry? Probably not, but I bet you smiled. "This is me. I am Rohan. Amen." Precious.
You know what I miss about blogging? Expressing myself. I find myself all comtemplative and introspective lately, with no outlet. I'm not really talking to anyone in depth, except my husband, but daily life does not always lend itself to deep introspective talks. I have to make those happen. And Dustin, being a man, places deep talking and diving into emotional wells down about #100 on his to-do list. And that's just fine. He is willing to take a plunge now and then, but he doesn't have a need to do so, like I do, being a woman. I got to do that as often I wanted to when I was blogging a lot and I miss that. Miss it, I tell you.
For Christmas, I got a new computer. And a very expensive piece of software that I can build custom websites with. I'm doing one right now for my brother-in-law. Next I will do my own (which was why I actually bought the program) for my pretzels and such. It's all very exciting.
Speaking of exciting... our other big Christmas present was a finished basement. Carpet came on December 27th. It's been about 4 years in the making, our basement. But it's really, actually finished now. I can't tell you the satisfaction this has brought to Dustin and I. And I can't tell you how grateful I am for my dad and his endless knowledge about all things construction. He's good, I tell you. Very good.
Hurrah!
And, because you have asked (on Facebook) and will ask on here, here are some pictures, before and after.
Just kidding. I wrote this post on January 6th and it's only just being published because I've been trying to get up the gumption to post those blasted pictures. Why are pics so hard for me? I have no idea. Maybe some day I'll show before and afters... but not today.

Discrimination
I don't like chicken. I love chickens... but I don't like chicken.
My mom has chickens and I think they are the funniest, cutest little things ever. I love to watch them peck and scratch and cluck. I love to eat their eggs. I love when the hens sit themselves down on their little eggs and grow babies. I love when they hatch and little baby chickens run around my mom's property.
But...
I don't like to eat chicken. I used to, but ever since I was pregnant with Ella... 8+ years ago... I stopped eating it. It's kinda weird, I know. I really do.
But...
IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!
Some people don't like tomatoes. Some people don't like nuts. Some people don't like olives. Do they get gasps and slack-jawed stares? Maybe. But not likely.
What's the big deal with chicken? Why is it not okay with so many people that I don't like chicken? I don't really get it.
And it's equally hard to understand the incredulous shock people exhibit when I tell them I don't like warm cookies from the oven. I just don't. Sorry. The world will continue rotating on it's axis if I like my cookies cooled completely, not even warm a little bit in the center.. Just so you know.
Next time you're in a restaurant, I want you to think of me. I want you to read over that menu and see just how many dishes include chicken. There's usually only one salad that is lacking this foul fowl. I think us non-chicken lovers need more options. This is discrimination.
I'm totally calling my lawyer. Totally.

Crafty
Don't laugh, please. Anyone who knows me knows I am not crafty by nature.
Despite that fact, I've been surfing some little crafty waves in my life. I would just love to add pictures to this post, but alas, my camera just stopped working the other day. No reason. I didn't drop it or anything. It just randomly freaked out. Stupid thing.
It's strange but I've been "seeing" the possibilities in things. I was at a craft store getting some supplies for this project I did with my kids and I saw this shelf on sale....
nevermind.
That was extremely boring and I don't want to write about it anymore.
I just want to write something and I want it to be good. That was not it. Neither is this though. None of this is good writing, but I'm writing something and I'll take it.
I was at Lowe's this evening and I asked one of the workers where something was. She told me and then walked with me for part of the way. She smelled so darned good. I just kept sniffing the air around her. She stopped and helped somebody else and I looked for my items. When I finished getting what I needed, I walked past her again and stopped.
"Can I ask you a strange question?" I inquired of the woman.
She looked dubious. "Sure..." she said. Her tone was anything but sure.
I tried to look reassuring. "Do you wear perfume?"
That was not the question she was expecting to hear. A myriad of emotions flew across her features in the blink of an eye. She laughed nervously. "Yes, I do!"
"What kind is it?" I responded before she asked me if I was a psycho. "What's the name?"
"Skin Musk" she replied and laughed.
I figured I owed her some sort of explanation at this point. I told her how she smelled so darned good and I just kept wondering what it was I was smelling. She was shocked and told me that she was worried because she'd been sweating a lot and she was sure she was just plain stinky. I reassured her that she didn't stink at all, and, in fact, smelled heavenly and asked her where I could purchase this lovely scent.
"Walgreens," she informed me. "Just down the street."
Guess where I stopped on the way home? And guess what only cost me $6.99? I hope it smells as good on me as it does on her. I'll keep you posted. Or not. We'll see.
All in all it was an interesting trip to Lowe's. And, all in all, this turned into a strange post that has nothing to do with the title.

Un-Snap?
I guess that would be sound I heard today as Dustin and I fixed the broken belt on the car. Really, there was no sound to the fixing, I just wanted to synchronize my post from earlier. There were a few sounds, I guess. But I won't mention Dustin's cursing. It just wasn't that nice.
So, Dustin and I didn't take the van to the shop... we fixed it ourselves. That's right, I said we. I totally helped! (It's Shake and Bake... and I hailped!... random commercial line that just popped in my head. Does anyone else remember that stupid commercial?)
Dustin fixing cars himself is nothing new. He's a fairly good mechanic-man. A very good trait, that. But me fixing it with him? New. I was so brave. I put my hand way down inside the enginey area and put the belt in the right place in several spots. I hate engines. I have fears about sticking my hand down there. I remember my ball or toy going under the car when I was a kid... I'd try to coax someone else into going under to get it for me, or I'd get a broom or something to shove it out with. I did whatever heroics I could to get that toy out without having to go under the car myself. I was S-C-A-R-E-D. So, yeah, I overcame some fears today and put my hand right down in those enginey parts. TOUGH Clancy. Dustin was way tougher than me though. He laid down on the yucky road in front of the auto-parts store, got all grimy and gross and stuck his hand in enginey places whilst feeling claustrophobic. (maybe he didn't feel clausto, but I did for him.) So, he wins. But he's not scared of that, so maybe I win, right?
Whatever. And, as it turns out, it wasn't the alternator belt. Well, it was a belt that goes on the alternator, but Dustin said it's called the "serpentine belt". Did you know cars have serpentine belts? I didn't, but it sounds so cool, right?
"I'm going to wear my 'serpentine belt' today."
HA!

Wrought
There are various havocs being wrought in my life right now.
Nursing wreaks havoc on my back and neck. So does holding a baby for much of the day. But this little bug is so sweet and precious and this time is so short that I'll savor the havoc wrought. I don't mind one bit.
Remodeling wreaks havoc on my house and my sanity, but there is such a big, bright, shining, radiant beam of light at the end of this tunnel, I don't mind this one bit either. I really can hardly believe I'll have a new basement soon. SOON!
Rain everyday wreaks some havoc on my mental state. But I don't have to water my grass and garden much.
Greek food (or Lebanese) wreaks havoc on my taste buds and I want to eat it every day.
Not having a dresser for Brynja wreaks havoc on my room. Sad thing is, I have one, but I want to paint it and so I keep not using it thinking I'll paint it. And here I sit typing about it while it sits downstairs remaining unpainted.
:-)
All good things. Equal measures of havoc and peace.

Remodeling
I have a hole in my bathroom wall. Dustin threw his dirty clothes down the hole tonight because he wanted to be funny. Don't worry. They landed right in front of my washer and dryer in the basement. If you're thinking, "Hey a laundry chute!", just think again. This hole is behind the tub and you can see all the "tub guts"... pipes and such... that are normally hidden by the wall. This hole is right next to the toilet. If you feel so inclined, you can look up from the basement and say hello to someone as they are doing their business. It's a little weird when guests drop by. But we already know I get a little nutty when guests drop by. I am getting better about my nuttiness.
But the hole in the wall doesn't help.
But the hole in the wall doesn't help.
Bounce
My thoughts are bouncy right now. I'm sitting at the computer at 12:27am and I'm reading various items while I listen to the washer and the dryer do their thing. I can't type fast enough. I'm having thoughts again. Thoughts that I want to share. Thoughts that I want to scribble out with my swirly handwriting. But I'll type instead.
Does anyone even read this anymore? I feel like I've forgotten how to blog.
When I die I want to be buried in a pine box. Like, a homemade one. I don't want thousands of dollars spent on my coffin. Just a simple pine box. Or cremation. That's ok with me.
I dislike cooking bacon. Do you know why? Because I can't stand my house to smell like bacon. And I can't stand my hair to smell like bacon. And let's not forget my clothes. I don't like my clothes to smell like bacon. Bacon tastes good. But the smell clings like the dickens.
I have a smell thing. I can't stand my hands to smell like food, unless it's cilantro. I love cilantro.
Today I put on my blue shirt. I love the color of this shirt.
When I put it on, I smelled the most wonderful smell! I was in heaven. I kept sniffing myself (well, my shirt, really) all day and wondered why I smelled so darned good.
Later I figured out that I wore this shirt last Friday. I had gone to the mall and tried a tester of perfume at The Gap. Guess what? I want that perfume. Bad.
I am not good at mailing things. Just so you know.
Sometimes I want to die when people come to my house. I get so self conscious about every imperfection. If ever anyone goes into my basement, I always ask them before they go down if they will still be my friend if they see how messy and crazy my basement is. Silly? Yes. And there's some sarcasm in the question... but mostly it's a valid fear.
My aim is to have a yard sale on Saturday. I'm excited and anxious about it.
I don't like planning birthday parties for my kids. The hardest part for me is getting out the invitations. I'm really not very good at this facet of parenthood. But that's ok with me. I'm good at the ones that are more important, I think.
I love doing laundry. Don't let me fool you if ever I'm complaining about it. It's very possible that it's my favorite household chore.
I'm trying some generic diapers tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for me and Miss B.
Speaking of Miss B, baby Brynja is precious. She laughed last Thursday and Friday nights. I told Mac about it when she did it the first time and he went on and on about how he just couldn't believe it. How she's growing up so fast. His face showed every emotion and he said, "That just makes me want to cry!" and I could see the tears just under the surface. What a sweet, tender boy. How many almost-ten-year-olds would be so thrilled and emotional about their baby sister laughing for the first time?
I love my life and my bouncy late-night thoughts.

Apparently
Apparently I'm not writing the important things, so I'll blather.
Apparently I'm not doing the daily tasks, so I Facebook.
Apparently I'm not keeping straight, so I visit my chiropractor.
Apparently I'm not keeping my dishes washed, so I shrug.
Apparently I was trying to be poetic but I keep falling on my face again and again and the backspace button is my new best friend and apparently I decided to forget about being poetic and, rather, write one big run-on sentence about nothing in particular while I notice the clock and think to myself that it's time to go pick up Ella and why am I still sitting here and then I answer myself and say that it's because I actually FEEL like writing something and that hasn't happened in so long I almost forgot how to do it and so I reply again that it's ok and Ella is fine to wait for two minutes with her friends outside the school under the supervision of teachers while I spew a bit of useless information in a run-on sentence but realize that it may be useless to the casual reader, but vital to my own mental health because apparently useless information is dripping from my brain like a leaky faucet and it must come out.
Apparently I'm not finished with my blog, so I smile.

Where Did We Go Wrong?
Dear Peanut Butter-
It's not you, it's me.
I'm not sure what happened to us. We used to enjoy eachother's company. I've never been a "I can't get enough peanut butter" kind of person, but we've always gotten along just fine.
Something happened. Over the years, you've just lost something. Slowly, you and I have just drifted apart. Remember when I used to put a normal amount of you on my PBJ's? And then that amount got thinner and thinner as the years passed, when finally the bread would just show right through you as I spread you on with my favorite freezer jam. I would almost gag if I watched my husband make a PBJ. He lays you on so thick, I'm amazed he coul speak the rest of the day after he ate those sandwiches.
At first it was just the thinning of the "PB" in my PBJ. Next was the Reese's Peanut Butter cups. And somewhere between the Reese's and last night's Peanut Butter Bar order that I had to fill, we've become nothing short of enemies. You assault all my senses... smell, sight, taste... even touch. So far, you've stayed away from hearing, but I know you'll find a way to ruin that too.
I want to be friends with you! Can't we still be friends? It would be so much easier to be around you!
Can't you just make yourself smell good to me again? Or, make it so that when I find little remnants of you in the jelly or the butter (because my kids don't understand the strength of my aversion toward you!) I don't go ballistic?
I'm so sorry that it's come to this. Perhaps, when my hormones level off in a few months, we can find some sort of happy medium. Perhaps.
No longer yours,
Clancy

Listy List
Do you ever just have a need to make a list? Today's the day for me!
1- I'm so grateful for cars and how they, once warmed up, can be a little bubble of warmth against the bitter Idaho weather. (or your state of residence... but only if it's a cold state. I don't want to hear about anything above 32 degrees. This morning, where I live it was -12 degrees. That sucks.)
2- I'm so grateful that my husband goes out and starts my car every morning as he's leaving for work.
3- I love the hood of my coat. It's so lovely and snuggly. A coat without a hood is not a coat worth having. That's simply my opinion and if you have a coat with no hood, no disrespect is intended. But you really should think about getting a coat with a hood. I'm just sayin'...
4- The "helm" where I sit and do all my computery things gives me a limited view of my driveway. I can see part of my husband's beat up, old truck and a little bit of the nose of my van from my not-so-lofty perch. The relevance of that random comment is this: I was just sitting here thinking how interesting the human mind is. The front bumper of my van is parked about 8 inches from the front bumper of Dustin's truck. I don't really even remember parking my van after I dropped Ella off at school, but I, obviously... in my miraculous and amazing brain... calculated the distance from the nose of my van to Dustin's truck very well because I am close to it, but didn't hit it. That got me thinking how a car can become almost an extension of our bodies. We are mostly aware of them as we are aware of our own arm or foot and we do things while driving with an awareness of the limits of the car. But this all happens without alot of concious thought on our part.
I've had a similar train of thought about when I'm in a room and I need to turn off the light and then navigate in the dark. If I take a quick scan of the room, I can turn off the light and negotiate the room blindly and yet fairly quickly with almost no mishaps because I've already "mapped out" in my mind, the distances my feet need to walk or where they need to skirt an obstacle.
Or, when I'm running, I look far ahead of where my feet are actually hitting the ground. I know where my feet are going to land because I already mapped it out as I took in the terrain as a whole. (I'm thinking, particularly, of trail-running which has many rocks, roots and various obstacles...) It's simply amazing to me how our brain will just take care of these little details without a lot of conscious awareness on our analytical brain's part.
We are some cool creatures, human beings!
5- I think something got stolen out of our garage. This, alone, sucks alot. But it extra-sucks because said item was not ours, but my dad's and Dustin had borrowed it. Our lock on our garage is missing. I don't know when, why or how that happened, but I went out there on Sunday night and the garage door was wide open (this is an old, detached garage with double swinging doors) and had been for who knows how long. My dad is awesome though and was so understanding and nice about the whole thing.
6- Did you know Laundry has a butt? I found that out yesterday when I kicked some Laundry-BUTT!!
7- I've been so busy this week... had so many little things to do. I've actually been doing them, but I should probably make a list because I keep forgetting all the little things that need doing. But, mostly I've remembered and I've gotten much accomplished. Good feelings abound.
That feels better. List made.

Nerd Alert
I've spent the last two hours of my evening studying HTML code. I'm obsessed! I can't tell you how insane I get looking at those codes and not knowing what they mean!!! I'm taking an HTML "class" that I found on the internet. I basically have to read through it and figure it out, and I love it.
LOVE IT, I tell you.
I wish I could stay up all night and study. But, understanding all those tags does take some brain power and my brain, apparently, shuts down at midnight because at 12:02 I realized I could no longer focus on what I was reading. :-(
As my brother, Zandy, used to always say to me when we were young, "Nerds die twice."
I guess I'm gonna die twice then, because I am a nerd for sure.

Miracles Do Happen
I was showered AND dressed AND had my hair done before 9am for TWO days in a row this week.
I believe in miracles.
I believe in miracles.

Hi There
'Tis I.
My whole household is feeling much better. I still stay in my PJs until 1, 2 or 3 o'clock, but that has been a home-school induced phenomenon, not a sickness induced one. Being sick just helped me feel better about the whole thing.
I have some cutie-patootie Halloween pics that I might someday add to this blog. But first, I'd need to remove them from my camera, which is proving to be easier said than done.
Guess what?
I'm going to be published on a website! I'm rather excited. Mormonwoman.org contacted me and asked if they could publish my "To Be A Woman" post. I was honored! I said yes. It should come out next week sometime... Tuesday, I think!
Cool beans. Thanks, Ginny, for telling them about my post.
Last night I made Yaki-Soba for dinner. (I guess that's spelled right? I don't really know...) It's a Japanese dish that my friend, Rebby, taught me how to make. It's incredibly yummy and I have some leftovers calling my name from the fridge right now....
Can you hear them?
Claaaancy...... Claaaaancy!!!! Come and eat us! Feed your baby some Japanese deliciousness for lunch!!!
You know what the best part about making dinner is? Clarification: when I actually MAKE dinner, do you know what's the best part? When there is leftovers and I can eat them for lunch.

Pontifications on Cereal
This is the 401st post on this little blog. Can you believe I had 401 things to say! Wow.
I am a cereal junkie. I love cereal. Yesterday I ate it for breakfast AND lunch. Very healthy choice, I must say.
I, unfortunately have also passed this love on to my children. I say unfortunately, but it's not entirely unfortunate. Just think if they didn't like cereal! I'd have to make them a real breakfast every morning. *gasp!* I struggle with making a real dinner at night. That would be problematic.
I will tell you what is unfortunate about this situation. Cereal is not the cheapest thing to eat for breakfast. Eggs would likely be cheaper. Oatmeal, definitely cheaper. I've thought I should define things a little bit regarding the cereal. I've thought I should tell the kids I will buy ___________ number of boxes per week and if they eat it all, then they don't get more until the next week. Good idea, huh? But the flaw in that plan is this: when the cereal runs out, there's one grown-up cereal junkie who has the power to run her little butt to the store and buy some more. And that is exactly what she does.
Post Cranberry Almond Crunch is my favorite, usually. I'm a big fan of Bran Flakes and Frosted Mini Wheats as well. Rice Chex, and Kix hit the spot. And with all of my pregnancies, Cheerios were my lifeline in the first trimester when sickness reigned and nothing sounded good.
Rohan lives for Life. Mac loves Special K. Ella will eat whatever suits her fancy that day, but she seems to ask for Frosted Mini Wheats the most.
I think we're winning Dustin over to the dark side. Together he and I will rule the cereal universe with our children. Although... Dustin loves Grape Nuts and they make his breath smell like dog food. If he eats them too much, I might have to destroy him. But, lucky for me (and him!), bwwaahahahaha, I'm the one who does the shopping!

Then and Now
I used to want to write all the time.
Now I all I seem to want to do is sleep.
I used to spend a lot of time on the computer blogging.
Now I spend a lot of time on the computer looking at lesson plans for my son.
I used to feel like I had a fair amount of free time.
Now I feel like there's not enough time in the day to do it all.
I used to get sick of dipping pretzels before I even started.
Now I get sick of pretzels before I'm even started. Umm... wait a second...
I used to not mind dipping so much once I got started.
I guess two things haven't changed.
9:50 p.m. used to feel like the night was just beginning.
Now I can't wait to go to bed 50 minutes ago.
I'm just going to package some pretzels and then I'm going to get my Zzzz's. Night night.

Random Thoughts on a Tuesday Morning
It is Tuesday, isn't it? I'm losing track...
- Yesterday I fell asleep at about 5:00 and slept for about an hour and a half. It was blissful, and that's coming from a girl who normally abhors taking naps, but it did make it very hard to fall asleep at bedtime so I watched a movie.
- Don't watch the moving "Knowing" if you want to fall asleep peacefully. Especially if your husband is working out of town. I missed his reassuring presence in my freaked out state.
- I am so glad Dustin doesn't work out of town all the time anymore. I feel incomplete when he is not home. I am such a lucky girl to love my husband so much. (and to have him love me as much in return and miss me too.)
- I suck at watering the lawn. Dustin is good at it. Another reason he's awesome to have around.
- My [clean] laundry pile is rather large again. I do great, and then I don't. I still like me, even when I don't do great at keeping up on laundry. Isn't that awesome?
- Getting dressed everyday can be frustrating when you're feeling vain and you are sick of your clothes.
- My favorite pants, the Big Star jeans, are nearing the end of their life. They are the comfiest, cutest jeans and their old-age/near-deathness makes me sad.
- I love Cheerios.
- I love cheese.
- I love nectarines.
- I love it when I make dinner.
- I don't like it when I don't make dinner. Last night we had cereal for dinner. That's a sure sign that Dustin is out of town.
- I don't want to be a landlord anymore.
- I didn't make my bed this morning, and that just makes me laugh.
- My dryer just shut off and I sat down here at the computer when I started the dryer. That means I've been sitting here WAY too long.
- My dryer is quiet and I STILL appreciate that. Never take your quiet dryer for granted.
- I need new sheets. My favorite super-soft cotton ones now have a hole in them because they were so threadbare that I put my little toes right through them in the night. That makes me sad.
- But new sheets will make me happy.
- Air conditioning is really really spectacular. Really.
The end.

Busy
Yes... I have been.
Rundown:
I can't really remember what I did since I blogged last. (a whole WEEK ago!) Oh... yeah. I was tiling at my duplex. Well, my dad was tiling. I was mostly watching with a bit of helping. And I was cleaning. Sticky floors and dirty walls. Good times!
I was also playing life raft for my friend one day... but I didn't even know that I was until she told me later. I love when I am helpful!
Dustin built our storage room in our basement. He's back in the basement groove. HOORAY! He also wired some more lights yesterday. He's become quite the little wirer. I'm so proud.
I've been doing laundry. Always laundry.
Chore charts rule. It's what I always knew I needed but never knew how much I'd always need it... comprende?
My brother and his wife and my sister and her kids came up from Salt Lake City. It was a weekend of bliss. Especially Sunday. We sat in my parents incredibly pleasant yard the WHOLE day. For D and I, it was from noon until almost ten o'clock! ALL DAY! I had my guitar there and I played a little but mostly watched and listened to my brother play. My favorite. My dream day. Listen to Zandy play guitar and sing with him and talk guitar. Beautiful. Magical.
I also haven't been blogging much because I've been playing guitar a great deal. After my post about speaking the same language I started playing every night. It's amazing how much you can improve with a little practice.
The fourth of July we went to see our local fireworks show. You know what's weird? Our smallish Idaho city's Fireworks show is ranked 17th in the NATION! It is a freakin' AWESOME show!!! And, I just read that it lasted 31 minutes and 15,962 shells were launched. ROCK ON!!! We sit a few hundred yards beneath the launch site. Amazing. The finale is a SERIOUS adrenaline rush! I LOVE IT!!!!

Why Not?!
I figure, I'm on a roll this week. Why should the fact that I don't really have anything to say stop me from blogging today?! I can always ramble on. I always have thoughts.
So, summer. What's up with summer and the whole rain everyday thing? This is not normal for Idaho. It's been POURING rain! I have a cousin who lives in Texas who recommended I enjoy it while it's rainy and cool because soon it will be HOT. In fact, here's her direct quote:
"As one who has sunshine for months now...I'm ordering you to enjoy your rain! You'll be sweltering soon enough. Breathe it, frolic in it, jump and dance in it! The sun will be there to stay very soon!"
Yes. That's true. I see her point. But... I did have a rebuttal in our exchange:
"Hard to frolic and dance in rain when it's 50 degrees and raining, but I'll do my best! It was a pajama day today... except for about four hours, I was in my PJ's and reading all day."
And that brings me to my next point. Pajamas. When did they become so great!? I've never been one of those people who dreams of their pajamas. Until now. Suddenly, clothes make me crazy and I yearn for that soft cotton, those elastic waists and my loose shirts (and no bra! shhh!). I wear flip-flops all day, even when I'm in my pajamas. I don't know what's happening to me!
Now, I'm not sure what to say next. I suppose I could be done. That could be the end of my post, and I would be happy, but I'm not done. I have more rambling to do.
I started writing something last night. It felt good. Even though I didn't get very far, I did something.
Chore charts are going fairly well still. Go me. Go kids! We are going to go to Lagoon toward the end of the summer if they keep it up. And I think we'll urge them until then with a few camping trips in between to keep them going. I really want to go camping. I haven't done it nearly enough with my kiddos, and it's so good for them! And me.
I don't like taking showers lately. Well, no, that's not quite right... showers are lovely and warm and luxuriant. I'm not happy about having to fix my hair after I take a shower. I really miss my super short hair. *sigh*
My dryer is so awesome! I do laundry much more regularly again. It's amazing the difference that quiet dryer can make!
Ok. I think I'm rambled out.
Signing off.

Manic Monday: Spice
Manic Monday on my blog has, apparently, gone the way of all the earth. Just like everything else about my blog. Here's a brief little resurrection of my favorite meme... Manic Monday.
I went to bed at 9:30 last night. Can you say wow?
"WOW!"
I was up and showered at 7:00. I need another wow...
"WOW!"
As I was blow-drying my hair, I was thinking of when I dyed it red a while ago. Actually, that last statement is not true. Let me take you for a ride on my train of thought:
As I was thinking of what to write about the word "spice" I was thinking of my WOW-bedtime and WOW-risetime and trying to tie it into the word spice. Then I thought of me blow-drying my hair at 7:15am. It was warm, then, with the blow dryer forcing hot air through my locks and across my skin. It was warm, and I'm currently cold. Maybe I should go and use the blow-dryer on my arms right now?
Anyway, as I conjured the image of myself and my blowdryer, I also saw the image of my hair. The color of my hair right now is rather interesting. I've been spending a lot of time in the sun and so it is getting lighter... a few blond highlights. My natural color is a sort of honeyish hue. My late dye-job still has left some residual strawberry.
The point of this railway journey of thought is really nothing. There is no point. Just that my hair color is currently reminiscent of spice. A mixture of nutmeg, cinnamon and chile powder... With a hint of cream of tartar. I don't recommend making anything out of that combination of spices. It would be rather yucky, but, at present, I'm kinda diggin' my hair.
