Friday's Fabulous Five

Remember how I made up this game a long time ago when I blabbed about fabulous things in my life?  I barely do, but I am committed to posting more for my dear, sweet dad and sister who are far away.

Dad and Lacy, this one's for you.

1- Brynja's sweet face and her spunky personality.  Not to mention the precious peace that falls on her round cheeks in her slumber.

2- SHORT HAIR!!!!  This is the most fabulous thing EVER.  I feel like me again.  I love me with short hair.  I love the ease of it.  I love the look.  I love the spunk.  I LOVE MY SHORT HAIR!

And I love seeing my short-haired self holding my sleeping Baby Brynja.

3-Having my tax information all in order and in my accountant's hands and OUT of my hands.  YAY.  This was the latest I've EVER done my taxes and I'm so relieved that it's over.

4- Being o.k. with myself and where I'm at.  Sure there are many things that I want to change, but I am mostly in such a great place and feel so good in my own skin.  I like me.  Isn't that weird and novel?  I like this girl named Clancy.  She's a cool cat, says I.

5- Awakening minds.  Some people get excited about sports.  Some love their T.V. shows.  Some people are passionate about exercise or nutrition.  Some about reading books.  Some about art and creating things, decorating and beautifying spaces.  Me?  I like many of those things, but I thrill at expansion of human conscsiousness, mine or others.  I love to make new discoveries about myself.  I love to dig into my psyche and see what drives me to behaviors that are both desirable and not.  I love to watch the process in others and hear about their unfolding.  This is passionate stuff for me.  I love it and I'm shoutin' it to the world.

♥Clancy

P.S. I feel inclined to ask if anyone would like to join me in processing?  If so, I invite you... get down and dirty with a shovel and dig into yourself.  Find out who you are.  Love you.  Become.  I dare you!

And then tell me about it, if you wish.  I love to hear about your process, if you feel inclined to share.  ♥

Why Not?!

I figure, I'm on a roll this week. Why should the fact that I don't really have anything to say stop me from blogging today?! I can always ramble on. I always have thoughts.

So, summer. What's up with summer and the whole rain everyday thing? This is not normal for Idaho. It's been POURING rain! I have a cousin who lives in Texas who recommended I enjoy it while it's rainy and cool because soon it will be HOT. In fact, here's her direct quote:

"As one who has sunshine for months now...I'm ordering you to enjoy your rain! You'll be sweltering soon enough. Breathe it, frolic in it, jump and dance in it! The sun will be there to stay very soon!"

Yes. That's true. I see her point. But... I did have a rebuttal in our exchange:

"Hard to frolic and dance in rain when it's 50 degrees and raining, but I'll do my best! It was a pajama day today... except for about four hours, I was in my PJ's and reading all day."

And that brings me to my next point. Pajamas. When did they become so great!? I've never been one of those people who dreams of their pajamas. Until now. Suddenly, clothes make me crazy and I yearn for that soft cotton, those elastic waists and my loose shirts (and no bra! shhh!). I wear flip-flops all day, even when I'm in my pajamas. I don't know what's happening to me!

Now, I'm not sure what to say next. I suppose I could be done. That could be the end of my post, and I would be happy, but I'm not done. I have more rambling to do.

I started writing something last night. It felt good. Even though I didn't get very far, I did something.

Chore charts are going fairly well still. Go me. Go kids! We are going to go to Lagoon toward the end of the summer if they keep it up. And I think we'll urge them until then with a few camping trips in between to keep them going. I really want to go camping. I haven't done it nearly enough with my kiddos, and it's so good for them! And me.

I don't like taking showers lately. Well, no, that's not quite right... showers are lovely and warm and luxuriant. I'm not happy about having to fix my hair after I take a shower. I really miss my super short hair. *sigh*

My dryer is so awesome! I do laundry much more regularly again. It's amazing the difference that quiet dryer can make!

Ok. I think I'm rambled out.

Signing off.

Manic Monday: Spice

Manic Monday on my blog has, apparently, gone the way of all the earth. Just like everything else about my blog. Here's a brief little resurrection of my favorite meme... Manic Monday.

I went to bed at 9:30 last night. Can you say wow?

"WOW!"

I was up and showered at 7:00. I need another wow...

"WOW!"

As I was blow-drying my hair, I was thinking of when I dyed it red a while ago. Actually, that last statement is not true. Let me take you for a ride on my train of thought:

As I was thinking of what to write about the word "spice" I was thinking of my WOW-bedtime and WOW-risetime and trying to tie it into the word spice. Then I thought of me blow-drying my hair at 7:15am. It was warm, then, with the blow dryer forcing hot air through my locks and across my skin. It was warm, and I'm currently cold. Maybe I should go and use the blow-dryer on my arms right now?

Anyway, as I conjured the image of myself and my blowdryer, I also saw the image of my hair. The color of my hair right now is rather interesting. I've been spending a lot of time in the sun and so it is getting lighter... a few blond highlights. My natural color is a sort of honeyish hue. My late dye-job still has left some residual strawberry.

The point of this railway journey of thought is really nothing. There is no point. Just that my hair color is currently reminiscent of spice. A mixture of nutmeg, cinnamon and chile powder... With a hint of cream of tartar. I don't recommend making anything out of that combination of spices. It would be rather yucky, but, at present, I'm kinda diggin' my hair.

Red

So I've been restless. And I've been growing my hair out. I pretty much hate growing my hair out and I miss my short, short, SHORT hair that took me 2.5 minutes to do.

What's a girl to do? Why, dye her hair of course! :) I did this myself for six bucks yesterday morning. I would love to get it done by a professional some day, but I'm too low maintenance and cheap. This is the ultimate Clancy hair dye... no roots because it will wash out over time. So, if I want to do it again, I just do the whole thing over again. If I don't want to, my natural color will come back eventually. That's my kind of hair dye.

(I realize these pics are a repeat for some of you... sorry!)

Here's my new iPod that I won! I was supposed to take pics of me with it and I'm only just getting around to it.

I'm loving it. I love the change and I love the contrast. I must say, my son was really mad at me. He thinks that because I dyed my hair, he should get to dye his too. We actually had a nice little fight about it. He was VERY rude and sassy and I promptly sent him to his room. It went on from there and in the end it was understood that he might get to do something different to his hair when he's a teenager... like 18 according to his dad... but for now, he gets to leave his hair alone. He, apparently, wants to be a red head too! Where did he get that notion!?

Hair History

My blogging friend, Maggie, did a post remembering funny hairstyles from her youth. She asked at the end, "What crazy hair styles did you have?". I had so much fun answering her query, that I had to do a post myself so I could hear all about your goofy childhood hair days!

She talked about how she tried, for a little while, the bangs that stick straight up. Here was my comment on her blog:

I can totally see the straight-up bangs. We had a name for girls who held on to those big bangs years after they were out of style... Boof Bangers.

While they were in style, however, I tried my darndest, but I never could achieve the up-bang thing. I have very straight, fine hair. I have a fair amount of hair, but it doesn't hold curl well at all. (I never did try to use a whole bottle of hairspray in a week though. Maybe I would've had more success with that tactic!)

I remember a few attempts at perms. My hair would take the perm on the underlayers but the top wouldn't. So I would have this lovely flat to partly wavy hair on top and under would be crazy tight curls. It sucked to be me in the perm days.

In high school I was a granola who wore hiking boots and patagonia shirts all the time. I parted my long straight hair in the middle or pulled it up into a pony tail or two braids on the sides.

Now I mostly keep it short. I just got it cut on Monday and it is REALLY short. I think it's about the same length as my husband's hair!

Fun post. I might just copy you and post this comment of mine on my blog so I can hear all about my friends' hair history.

So, now I ask all of you.... What crazy hair styles did you have? ;)

Bye Bye Crazy Hair!

So, Mac was thinking he wanted to grow his hair out... I was not so thrilled with this notion as I like his hair short (it shows off his incredible eyes)... but you know, pick your battles!!! Then the other night just before bedtime I was playing with his hair and asked if he wanted a hair cut. He said yes! So, I seized the moment and we went and did it right then!

I took this as a before shot....

Then Dust had the camera while I was buzzing... (hence the blurriness - I love you, honey!!!)

Fresh out of the shower... look at those beautiful eyes! I realized I am biased, being the child's mother, but he really has gorgeous blue eyes.

Crazy Hair Day!!

Wow! So, I'm trying to load my first video ever! How exciting! The kids had "Crazy Hair Day" at school. I did Mac's in a mowhawk of ponytails! He wanted to wear it that way the next day too. I told him, um, no. This was pretty fun though. Sadly, I only got the "leftover hair" after the rubber bands came out. You get the idea though....
I've got a video of Ella and Roh, but I'm going to try to load it in another post. It doesn't seem to want to load in this one!
