It's 5:34 pm right now. Dustin is working late tonight... late-ish. I haven't cooked dinner and I'm blogging instead!
The truth of the matter is that I'm in pain right now and I can't easily stand up from this chair I sat in a few minutes ago. I have been having issues with the ligaments in my abdomen... I've read that it's the ones that hold up my uterus. Anyway, whatever they are, they have a tendency to get irritated and it feels like a severe side-ache... you know when you're running and you get a side-ache? It feels like that. And when it is bad, like it is at this moment, I have to sit still 'til it goes away because moving doubles me over.
Soo... that's my really good excuse for not having dinner cooked or even started at 5:34pm.
We went for a lovely visit over the weekend to Logan, UT... our former place of residence. We visited with our friends Jennie and Jared and Justin and Amy. We had a Halloween party of sorts, but mostly just visited and played.
Then the next day we went and visited with my lifelong friend, Beth and her family. Our kids got along swimmingly and were very sad to leave their friends that they see far too little of. They are still talking about "Eric" and how cute and funny he is. It was a good day and we were all sad to leave. Hopefully it won't be so long before we see all the friends we saw this weekend again.
I've been in sewing mode. Halloween is my favorite time of year to sew. I love to make my children costumes and watch them light up as they come to fruition.
Rohan is going to be a "mommy" this year. (Mummy, but he always says it like mommy, which confuses all the people who ask him what he's going to be for Halloween!) I am having so much fun making up his costume. It's rather tedious the way I'm doing it, but it's turning out great! I'm excited and so is he!
Mac will be a Grim Reaper and Ella, a little devil. They are all loving it and can't wait for the real deal.
I love Halloween and have so many fond memories of my mom helping us get all dressed up. She loved it too and always went "all out".
So, it's now 5:50 and my ligaments or whatever hurts is not hurting so much now, so I think I'll go make dinner!

Friday's Fabulous Five
I got "booed" by Kaci, but let's face it... I'm not very good at this type of thing and I didn't pass it on. So, you just get to enjoy this cute little pic. Sorry Kaci!So many things fabulous, so little items in five.... sigh.
1- Standard number one answer... Dustin's coming home today!!!!!!!!! YYAYAYAYAYYAAY!!!!
2- Dude! It's HALLOWEEN!!!! We have lots of fun things planned today and Dustin gets to be here to enjoy them with us!!
3- Ella is so darned cute. They all are, but she's extra cute today.
4- I bought a Scentsy candle warmer thingy at a party this week and I'm excited to see if it will help my house smell less like it was built in 1920, and not have the normal effect that lighting candles has on me since it's wickless and fireless. I'm also excited to get it to smell less like a squirrel lives here.
5- I got to experience a glorious sunrise this morning with my sweet kids who said they painted it for me (they learned that from D). It was truly fabulous and I will miss, after daylight savings time ends, how interesting the sky has been during our morning jaunts to school.
Let's hear it! What's fabulous in your life?

Happy Halloween
Just digging through old pictures.... thought I'd share.
Dustin and I went to a sweet party back in '06. I was a witch, of sorts, and Dustin was "Daniel Larusso" (which he is EVERY year... stinker)

We played a game where one of the couples got to paint something on their other half's face. I made him into "The Ghost of Daniel Larusso". (Notice the black eye. Ya, Daniel sported that into the afterlife since he always seemed to have one when he was the Karate Kid)

I actually had a "hat" as a witch, but they wouldn't stay on my face. Notice the hat? It's very small up above my right eye.

What? You can't see it? Ok, try this one... See my little witch hat? Ya... it's there.

Melissa (party hostess) had a contest for who could bring the most "Halloweeny" treat. I won by a landslide. These are edible eyeballs. They're some jello/creamcheese/pineapple juice concoction that you refrigerate and they jiggly like jello... or like eyeballs. They were actually REALLY tasty, but not many got eaten because people couldn't get over that the felt like an eyeball when you touch them

And these were my cookies that I brought. Fleshy fingers and witchy fingers. These were tasty and looked rather disgusting too! Yum!

Happy Halloween!

Royalty is Gracing My House Today...
I wish I could still think that dress-ups were entertaining. I keep watching my kids- Ella in particular- using their wild imaginations to make everything they do FUN! (well, we're still working on making washing the dishes or cleaning the living room fun... Mom is in charge of the imagination on that part!) This morning, they wanted to play in our Halloween costume box. This is the box that I put all of our past Halloween costumes, and as you can imagine, it provides hours of entertainment for those bright young minds! What cracks me up is that all the costumes are getting too small for them. I made this dress for Princess Ella in 2005. So, two and a half years ago that dress came down to the floor on her. It won't be too long before it won't zip up in the back.
While Rohan... his frog costume (which I did NOT make... that credit goes to Old Navy) was one all my kids wore for their FIRST Halloween. I believe that it is a 0-6 month size! LOL!! I'm not sure if you can see how tight those arms are... his little hands are bunched up in those webbed froggie mits! He can't even wear the legs. Yes, it's a full body suit for a baby. He's been wearing it for hours and just fell asleep in it. I tried to take off the hood so I could get his arms out, and he screamed in his sleep, "MY MASK!!! WEEV MY MASK AWONE!!" I guess he's sleeping in it!
pective. This was the actual Halloween of 2005. See Rohan in the frog costume? He's just a wee bit bigger now, don't ya think? And Ella... see the dress to the floor? (don't look at her sneakers sticking out of the bottom. Her dad was in charge of getting her shoes before we left the house and she got Mac's old tennis shoes!)
Mac was at school while they were playing dress-ups, but were he here he'd be wearing his knight costume as well. Knight, princess and the frog-prince! What a cute set of royalty!

What the......?
So... inspired by Callin and Tricia, I decided to create a blog. Let's see how it goes. Today was Mac and Ella's Halloween party at school. I took a few pictures.... let's try uploading! I also took a video or two, we'll see if I can figure out this whole blogging thing. Mac and Ella had tons of fun dressing up. I thought I was getting a head start on their costumes, but still managed to be up way too late sewing last night. I had to get that final touch on Mac's werewolf shirt.... the three claw slashes on his back with shiny red fabric behind so it looks like blood!!! (the blood was Mac's smart idea, but I will take credit for the slashes and the execution of the whole deal! *wink*) Ella doesn't want to dress up as anything that isn't beautiful. She was the "Ice Princess" this year, complete with glitter in her hair which you can't see in the pictures. She had a grand time walking around feeling ultra princess-ish. She's definitely a girl! Rohan is dressing up as a dinosaur this year (Mac's old costume) but only likes to wear it for about 2 minutes and then he's ready to take it off and head-butt something and growl. He's very fond of growling. These kids are loads of fun. They are excited for the real deal tomorrow.... Trick or Treating! Oh, to be young!
