What I want to know is, who told Pearce Brosnan he could sing? I just watched Mamma Mia! tonight. Fun show, but dude! Was anyone else a little teeny bit anxious for his dignity? I will admit, there is something charming about a guy that doesn't sound that great just BELTING it out! I admire that. A lot. But don't you think, maybe, they could've picked a guy that didn't sound like he was singing with marbles in his mouth? I'm just sayin....

LOL!!! Yes, he was awful, but still oh so cute. At first I felt the same way as you did, but then I thought it made him endearing. My girls told me that their cousins want to bring this show to our cabing trip (in March) so they can watch it together. Uhhhh...NO. So not for 10 and 8 year olds to watch.
HA....That was the BEST PART of the show...
I haven't seen it, but sometimes I think that's the point... to have someone singing who can't!
I loved that movie. The first time I saw it in the theatre with my folks. When Pierce started to sing everyone started to laugh. It was Great. Shaken, not stirred.
Yes, he's not a great singer, but it didn't ruin the movie. I felt bad for all the negative press and focus on his poor singing. It's just funny to see someone who can't sing very well obviously not caring about it. He should try out or American Idol - he'd fit right in.
I really liked the movie and I even liked him singing, but I was anxious every time he did it. Like I said, it has a certain charm...
Yeah...I heard it was not so good! LOL!
So are you still wanting writing prompts? If so...
..it took all her strength
to let go. She knew she was not in control and shouldn't be.
Ha ha haaaaa,,,,,,, that was one of my favorite things about that show. You know how I don't love musicals, right? But to see a man I really like on screen, getting into funny clothes from the 60's or real early 70's and then breaking into all that singing later........ LOLOLOLOL..... all I got was that they all, Meryl Streep included, did it for the fun of it, knowing they weren't singers (by profession) & did it anyway! Oh..... My....... Gosh!!!! I laughed & laughed & enjoyed every goofy Abba song set to a goofy little musical story. Brony & Dave & Dad & I went together & I was VERY skeptical since I don't like musicals. Brony talked me into it. I didn't even really like much of the Abba musice back in the day........... and "YET!!!! Holy Cow! I got a real kick out of the whole thing. It was VERY tongue in cheek & I loved it.
Way back when, Dad & I used to watch "Remington Steele" (Pierce Brosnan was the male star) & that character left such a great, fun taste in my mouth (mind?) that seeing him do this funny little musical was awesome & perfect. He's such a sport & a great character actor. Anyway, I could ramble on.......... It was very interesting to hear your thoughts and see things from a different perspective!! Hahahahahaaaaa!!
PS. that squinchy thing when he sang...... I had that for Gerard Butler when he did Phantom of the Opera...... so I understand. Some people LOVED him in that
ttfn
love you
Mom
lol...totally felt the same way. uncomfortable for him. eye candy. yes. ear candy. not so much.
I have heard other people mention it too...so it's not just you. If you can believe it, I haven't seen it yet!
I have been dying to see the movie because I LOVE the musical. I have seen it multiple times and just love the music. I have heard mixed reviews about the movie, but I love how you explain it as feeling "anixety" when he was singing. Feeling that way is so funny, when someone is on stage, or telling a joke and you think...wow, this is awkward.
I haven't seen it yet...but now I wanna. LOL!
I agree totally. I felt sorry for him, but he is so cute! Although his freckles really show in this flick. I love love love Mama Mia...so fun and I have to admit I let my 8 and 6 year olds watch because they love ABBA. I FF in some places, but other than that a great musical. I wish I could get my hubby to watch it. I can hear him singing along upstairs. Ha, Ha. Love ya....
