Guess what?

Yesterday's contest at my friend Mag's blog?  Remember that?  I TOTALLY WON!!  I'm so excited!  So, in the next few days I'll be receiving a spectacular lemon friendship cake in the mail.  :)

Maybe it will arrive just after I have the baby and it will be like Mags dropping off a little gift for me to say Happy New Baby!  I'd like to think of it like that anyway, because Mags is my friend of several years that I've never met.  :)

Thanks, Mags, for the contest!  My day has been made.  Not to mention the tulips that I saw peeking their little red/brown heads out of the cold ground this morning!!  Along with the lovely sunshine and the almost complete lack of snow in my front yard!  Bless you, Spring!  And Bless you, Mags!

Oh, Happy Happy Day of March the 10th!

Friday's Fabulous Five and Rohan

1- It's Friday. Need I say more? I love Friday. Friday feels like a party, whether or not one actually happens. It just feels fun!

2- I think I'm figuring out iTunes. Call me retarded, but I've found it uber annoying and not very user friendly. But, I think I'm getting it now.

3- Today is the last day of school for my kids for until a week from Monday! YAY! I hope the weather is nice. If so, we'll go play Frisbee every day.

4- My son is REALLY good at Frisbee for an 8 year old. He's gotten good enough that's it's not just me doing my mom-job to play Frisbee with him. It's actually fun and challenging. Dang, he's gonna be good when he's 18!

5- My cell phone charger broke. This is no normal charger you can just pick up at the store either. It's a long story about that, but the end result was that I went for about a week and a half with no cell phone. Then my mom kindly charged my batteries with her phone and then they died again. I was waiting for a charger to ship from either Amazon.com or somewhere in Hong Kong. (more long stories) Anyway, to make a long story short, Hong Kong pulled through and I can finally charge my cell phone again! I'm so glad. I heart my cell.

Rohan came over to me with a DVD case in his hand. He said he wanted to watch this show. I said ok. He's been very interested in the fact that there is a "bonus material" disc and he asked me, "Why is dat bonus material there?" I told him it was just some extra stuff. He was satisfied. I wanted to pick him up (because he's so cute) and in doing so I made him drop the DVD case. He got really worried and I assured him (as I held his cuteness in my arms) that the DVD was fine. He responded, "Yeah, dat's cuz it's made out of 'extras'!"

Glove Lines

One of the benefits of being so white that your husband calls you translucent is that when you spend two days in the sun weeding, and planting, and weeding, and poisoning weeds and sowing seeds, all the while wearing gardening gloves, you get a nice defining line on your wrists between the sunburned arms and the white hands. It's so attractive. (how do you feel about that ultra-long run-on sentence?)

I guess it's because it's been such a freakin' cold spring, but Thursday was the first day I felt like doing ANYTHING in my yard. And, as we all know, I've been so very full of willpower to do things that I don't feel like doing. (yes, that's heavy sarcasm kids!) So, I went to the flower store (or the NURSERY, as my friend corrected when I told her where I was) and bought stuff to plant! Then I came home and the real work began. I had many many weeds to pull. I did that til my fingers hurt and my back was sore and I was super sweaty, tired and sunburned. And then I did it some more. After almost two full days of weeding and poisoning, I finally planted my purchases. Look how cute!

Another baby basil plant and a volunteer butternut squash! Cute huh! I also planted spinach and tomatoes. I love getting my yard whipped into shape and I'm glad that it's finally warm enough to make it fun!

There's Nothin' Like Smellin' Like Chocolate!

It's pretzel time again, kids!!! And with pretzels time, comes insomnia! Yes, it is currently 2:08 a.m. I still have to get up in the normal a.m. hours and package the pretzels. Thank goodness for my lovely hubby's help. I wouldn't have made it without him!!! Just thought I'd post a few pics of the wretched things that keep me up so late!!!

Tell you the truth, I am grateful that I smell of caramel and chocolate, because that means some extra money to help out! I need to quit my whining about pretzel time. It is such a blessing!
